Pick Google Antigravity if you want a free start and a full platform from one vendor: a desktop App that runs several agents in parallel, the agy CLI, an agent-first IDE, Gemini models including Gemini 4 Argon on Google AI Pro and Ultra, and Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 on the same model list. Pick Claude Code if you want Anthropic's own agent on a Claude plan, with cloud routines that run on a schedule or a GitHub event while your machine is off. Both now cover the same ground (skills, MCP, hooks, subagents, remote control), so the deciding factors are price, models and where your work runs.

What Antigravity is in 2026
Antigravity started as an agent-first IDE and is now a family of products sharing one agent harness: the App, a command center for running several local agents in parallel and grouping them into projects; the CLI, started with agy; the IDE, with an agent manager and artifacts; and an SDK for building your own agents on the same harness.
The CLI matters most for this comparison. Google released Antigravity CLI on May 19, 2026, built in Go, and on June 18, 2026 it replaced Gemini CLI for the free tier and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. If you came to this page from Gemini CLI, our Gemini CLI vs Claude Code page explains who can still use it.
Pricing and limits
Antigravity's Individual plan costs nothing and includes a variety of agent models, unlimited Tab completions and unlimited Command requests, with basic weekly rate limits. Google AI Pro and Ultra raise those limits and add a flexible AI credit pool; Google doesn't publish the exact limits on the pricing page. Organizations buy through Google Cloud, from $30 per seat a month on Standard or Plus for eligible Gemini Enterprise customers, or with a $0 seat fee and usage-based billing.
Claude Code has no free tier. Claude Pro is $20 a month ($17 billed annually), with at least five times the free plan's usage per five-hour session, and Max gives five or twenty times Pro. If you want to try an agent before paying anything, Antigravity is the easier start.
Models: Claude inside Antigravity
Antigravity's model page lists Gemini 4 Argon, Gemini 3.8, 3.7 and 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.1 Pro, and Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 with thinking. Older Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.6 and GPT-OSS-120b are scheduled for removal on November 2, 2026. Gemini 4 Argon is for Google AI Pro and Ultra.
So you can run Claude's current models in Antigravity. What you get in Claude Code instead is the agent Anthropic builds around those models, Fable 5.1 on request, and usage under your Claude plan.
Extending and automating
Both agents are now customized the same way. Antigravity's docs list MCP, Agent Skills, rules, custom subagents, lifecycle hooks, sidecars and plugins installed with /plugin from a marketplace; Google is migrating its older IDE workflows to skills. Claude Code has skills, MCP, subagents, plugins and hooks on 33 events, with handlers that can be shell commands, HTTP calls, MCP tool calls, prompts or subagents.
For unattended work:
- Antigravity has
/schedule, which runs an instruction once after a delay or on a cron schedule, scheduled messages in the App, and Remote Control to drive sessions from any browser. - Claude Code has routines that run in Anthropic's cloud on a schedule (hourly at most), from an HTTP call, or on a GitHub pull request or release, so they keep going with your laptop closed. Our Claude Code routines guide walks through them.
