Terms

Terms of service

The agreement between you and Briefkin. We kept it as plain as we could, but it is still a contract, so please read it. How we handle your data is in the Privacy policy.

The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Petar Slovic, based in Serbia (“Briefkin”, “we”, “us”), for using briefkin.dev and its dashboard, API, installer, hooks, skill and Telegram bot (together, “Briefkin”).

By signing in, or by sending updates with a Briefkin token, you accept these terms and the Privacy policy. If you use Briefkin for a company or another organisation, you accept them on its behalf and confirm that you are allowed to. You must be at least 16 years old.

What Briefkin is

Briefkin collects status updates from your AI agents, scripts and scheduled jobs, and shows them as cards on your dashboard. It can alert you on Telegram when something needs you, and pass your answers back to the agent that asked.

Briefkin is young and in open beta. It changes often: features may be added, changed or removed, and there will be bugs and the occasional outage. We work to keep it running and your data safe, but we don’t promise any particular uptime. We may set reasonable limits, for example on the size of an update or how many a token can send, to keep the service working for everyone.

Your account and tokens

  • You sign in with GitHub, so keeping your GitHub account secure keeps your Briefkin account secure. Each workspace has one owner.
  • Agent tokens report to your workspace on your behalf. Keep them secret, and revoke any that leak in Settings; a revoked token stops working at once.
  • You are responsible for what is sent with your tokens and done in your account. If you think someone else is using them, revoke them and tell us at privacy@briefkin.dev.

Software on your computer

The installer, the hook script, the Briefkin skill and the agent plugins (“the scripts”) run on your computer, with your permissions. The installer adds Briefkin’s hooks and skill to the agent tools it finds, and keeps a backup (.briefkin-backup) of every settings file it changes. You can read the scripts before running them, at /install and /hooks.sh. Whether to install them is your choice.

To write status lines, the hook runs an AI command-line tool you already use (Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode) on your own account. That use counts toward your plan with that provider and is covered by your agreement with them, not by these terms. You can turn it off with BRIEFKIN_SUMMARIZER=off.

You may use, copy and change the scripts to use them with Briefkin. This permission is personal and non-exclusive, and it ends when you stop using Briefkin.

Your agents and your answers

When you answer a card, in the dashboard or in Telegram, Briefkin delivers your answer to the agent as your reply, and the agent may act on it: run commands, change code, merge or deploy. Read the card before you answer.

Briefkin does not control your agents. You are responsible for what they do, what they send to Briefkin, and what they cost to run. We are not responsible for an agent’s actions or mistakes, including actions it takes on an answer you sent through Briefkin, or for an update or answer that arrives late or not at all.

Your content

“Your content” is everything you and your agents send to Briefkin: updates, cards, answers, settings and feedback. You keep every right to it.

You allow us to store, process, display and transmit your content only as needed to run Briefkin for you (showing your board, sending your alerts, delivering your answers) and to keep backups. This permission ends when your content is deleted, apart from backups, which expire on their own within 30 days.

You confirm that you have the right to send your content and that it breaks no law and no one else’s rights. Please don’t put secrets (passwords, API keys, private keys) or sensitive personal data (health, financial or other people’s private information) in cards: Briefkin is a status board, and isn’t built to hold that kind of data.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Briefkin without owing you anything for them.

Acceptable use

Please don’t:

  • break the law, or use Briefkin to store or send unlawful, infringing or harmful content;
  • send malware, or use Briefkin, including its Telegram bot, to spam, harass or attack anyone;
  • try to reach other people’s workspaces or data;
  • probe, scan or test Briefkin’s security without our permission (if you find a vulnerability, please report it to privacy@briefkin.dev; we are glad to hear about it);
  • overload Briefkin, for example by sending far more updates than your agents’ work produces, or get around its limits;
  • resell Briefkin or offer it to others as your own service without our written permission.

We may remove content or suspend access that breaks these rules, as described in Ending.

Open beta, plans and payment

The open beta

While the open beta lasts, Briefkin is free: no card, no limits, no trial clock. When the beta ends, we will announce it in the dashboard and on this site first, and every workspace gets at least 14 more days free before it needs a paid plan. Nothing is deleted when the beta ends.

Prices

  • Paid plans are planned at $10 a month per workspace.
  • Workspaces created during the open beta get the founding price of $96 a year, locked for as long as you keep the workspace.
  • Outside the open beta, a new workspace starts with a 14-day free trial. No card is needed to start.
  • We may change prices. For a plan you already pay for, we will tell you at least 30 days ahead, and the new price starts at your next renewal. The founding price doesn’t change.

Paying and cancelling

  • Payments are handled by Gumroad, and Gumroad’s terms apply to the purchase. Prices are in US dollars; sales tax or VAT may be added where it applies. Plans renew automatically until you cancel.
  • You can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the period you paid for. We don’t refund partial periods, but if Briefkin didn’t work for you, write to privacy@briefkin.dev within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it. Nothing here takes away refund rights the law gives you.
  • If a workspace has no paid plan after its free period, we may stop accepting new updates for it until you pick one. Your cards stay, and we never delete a workspace’s data for non-payment without telling you at least 30 days before.

Other services

Briefkin works with services we don’t run: GitHub for sign-in, Telegram for alerts, Cloudflare for hosting, Gumroad for payments, and your own AI agents and tools. Their own terms govern your use of them, and we are not responsible for them, for example when Telegram delays an alert or GitHub sign-in is down.

Ending

  • You can stop using Briefkin whenever you like: revoke your tokens, remove the hooks, and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy policy).
  • We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, that doesn’t pay for a paid plan as described above, or when the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first and give you the chance to put it right and to take a copy of your data.
  • If we ever shut Briefkin down, we will tell you at least 30 days ahead, give you a way to export your data, and refund any time you paid for and can’t use.
  • The parts of these terms that by their nature should outlast the agreement (your content, who owns what, no warranty, liability, law and disputes) do.

Who owns what

Briefkin, its software, design, name and logo belong to us. These terms give you the right to use the service and the scripts as described above, and no other rights in them. Your content belongs to you.

No warranty

Briefkin is provided “as is” and “as available”, all the more so during the beta. As far as the law allows, we give no warranties, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Briefkin will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every update and alert will arrive, or arrive on time.

Briefkin is a convenience for following your agents. Don’t make it the only way you learn about something where a missed or late alert could cause serious harm, such as a production outage, a security incident or a safety-critical system.

Liability

As far as the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, including from anything your agents do;
  • our total liability for all claims about Briefkin is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50;
  • if someone brings a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms, you will cover our reasonable costs of it.

None of this limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, and none of it affects your rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Briefkin changes. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for changes that matter to you (prices, what you can do, your rights), tell you in the dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using Briefkin after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t accept them, stop using Briefkin and we will delete your account on request, and refund any time you paid for and won’t use.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Serbia, and disputes go to the courts of Serbia. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and can bring a claim there. Before any of that, please write to us: most problems are fixed faster with an email.

If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part right away, we haven’t given up the right to. You may not transfer these terms to someone else without our agreement; we may transfer them to whoever takes over Briefkin, and will tell you if we do. These terms and the Privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about Briefkin.
