ClickUp MCP and Claude skills

Pull tasks by status, overdue work, time in status and recent comments from ClickUp, and post a weekly status for each list or space.

Connect ClickUp to your agent (MCP)

  1. ClickUp MCP server, ClickUp's official remote server at https://mcp.clickup.com/mcp, OAuth only. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http clickup https://mcp.clickup.com/mcp, then /mcp to sign in and choose Workspaces; Cursor has an official ClickUp plugin or takes the URL in mcp.json, and Codex and other clients use the same URL. It has about 50 tools for search, tasks, comments, time tracking, Docs and Chat, writes included. Without the Everything AI add-on, calls are capped per Workspace over a rolling 24 hours (100 on Free Forever, 300 on Unlimited, 1,000 on Business), shared by every connected client (docs).
  2. API v2 with a personal token. Generate one in ClickUp under Settings > Apps (it starts with pk_), store it in CLICKUP_API_TOKEN with CLICKUP_TEAM_ID, and send it in the Authorization header with no Bearer prefix.

A personal token has no scopes and can do anything your account can, so for unattended reports create it on a separate member account that can see only the spaces in the report.

What agents do with ClickUp

ClickUp's API v2 (https://api.clickup.com/api/v2) follows the hierarchy of Workspace (called team in the API), Space, Folder, List and Task. GET /list/{list_id}/task returns a list's tasks, and GET /team/{team_id}/task filters across the Workspace with statuses[], assignees[], due_date_lt, date_updated_gt, include_closed and subtasks, 100 tasks per page. Each task carries status, priority, assignees, due_date, date_updated, time_estimate, tags and custom fields, and GET /task/{task_id}/time_in_status shows how long it sat in each status when the Total time in Status ClickApp is on. Comments come from GET /task/{task_id}/comment.

Managers schedule a weekly status per list with tasks done, in progress and overdue, overdue tasks by assignee, tasks stuck in one status for more than a week, and the comments and mentions that came in overnight.
