HubSpot MCP and Claude skills

Pull deals, pipeline stages, contacts and tickets from HubSpot, and report which deals moved, which went quiet and what closes this month.

Connect HubSpot to your agent (MCP)

  1. HubSpot MCP server, HubSpot's remote server at https://mcp.hubspot.com. HubSpot also offers a Claude connector built on the same server; you sign in with your HubSpot user and it sees what that user can see (docs).
  2. API with a private app token. Create a private app in your HubSpot account settings, give it only the scopes the report reads (crm.objects.deals.read, crm.objects.contacts.read, crm.objects.companies.read, crm.objects.owners.read), and store its token in HUBSPOT_ACCESS_TOKEN.

The MCP server and connector can create and update records, so for unattended reports a private app with only .read scopes is the safer credential.

What agents do with HubSpot

HubSpot's CRM v3 API covers the objects a sales or marketing report needs: deals, contacts, companies, tickets, owners and pipelines. The search endpoints (POST /crm/v3/objects/deals/search) filter on properties such as dealstage, pipeline, amount, closedate, hubspot_owner_id, hs_lastmodifieddate and notes_last_updated, return up to 200 records per page and stop at 10,000 results per query. Stage IDs map to names through /crm/v3/pipelines/deals, so a report can say "Contract sent" instead of an ID.

Sales and marketing leads put a few of these on a schedule: weekly pipeline by stage with the deals that moved, deals with no activity in 14 days, deals closing this month without a next step, new contacts by source, and the open ticket queue by pipeline.
