Pull views, watch time, subscribers and top videos from YouTube Analytics and the Data API, and post a weekly channel report with what performed and why.

Connect YouTube to your agent (MCP)

MCP server. Google doesn't publish an official MCP server for YouTube. Community servers exist; check whether one asks for read-only scopes or for full youtube access before you sign in.
Data API with an API key. For public channel and video stats, enable the YouTube Data API v3 in a Google Cloud project, create an API key restricted to it, and store it in YOUTUBE_API_KEY.
OAuth for your own channel's analytics. Create a desktop OAuth client, authorize once as the channel owner with yt-analytics.readonly and youtube.readonly (Analytics API requests now need both), and store YOUTUBE_CLIENT_ID, YOUTUBE_CLIENT_SECRET and YOUTUBE_REFRESH_TOKEN. Publish the OAuth app: refresh tokens from an app left in Testing expire after seven days.

Those read-only scopes can't upload, edit or delete anything; add yt-analytics-monetary.readonly only if the report shows revenue.

What agents do with YouTube

Two APIs cover a channel. The YouTube Data API v3 reads public data: channels.list with part=statistics returns subscriberCount, viewCount and videoCount, playlistItems.list on the channel's uploads playlist lists new videos, videos.list returns each video's viewCount, likeCount and commentCount, and commentThreads.list returns comments. The YouTube Analytics API's reports.query (ids=channel==MINE, startDate, endDate, metrics, dimensions) returns the private numbers: views, estimatedMinutesWatched, averageViewDuration, subscribersGained and subscribersLost by day or by video, with sort=-views for top videos. The Data API has a daily quota of 10,000 units and searches have a small separate allowance, so skills read the uploads playlist rather than searching.

Creators and marketing teams schedule a weekly channel report (views, watch time and net subscribers against last week), each new video's first 48 hours against the channel's typical launch, the top videos of the month, and new comments that need a reply. Analytics numbers take a day or two to settle.
