Freshdesk MCP: connect it to Claude Code, plus ready-made skills

Pull open tickets, SLA due times, escalations and first response breaches from Freshdesk, and report the tickets that need a person today.

How to connect Freshdesk MCP to Claude Code, Codex or Cursor

  1. MCP server. Freshdesk's API documentation doesn't describe an MCP server as of October 2026. Community MCP servers exist; they use the same API key, which can also create and update tickets, so check their tools before you connect one.
  2. API v2 with an API key. Each agent finds their key under Profile settings in Freshdesk. The skill reads FRESHDESK_DOMAIN (acme for acme.freshdesk.com) and FRESHDESK_API_KEY, and sends basic auth with the key as the username and X as the password. Current plans allow 3,000 to 5,000 calls an hour, and failed calls count toward the limit.

The key carries every right of the agent who owns it, so create a dedicated agent whose role and group access cover only what the report reads.

What agents do with Freshdesk

Freshdesk's API v2 lives at https://<domain>.freshdesk.com/api/v2. GET /tickets lists tickets with updated_since (without it, only the last 30 days come back) and include=stats for first_responded_at, resolved_at and closed_at. GET /search/tickets?query="..." filters on status, priority, group_id, agent_id, tag, due_by and fr_due_by, for example "status:2 AND priority:4", and returns 30 tickets per page for up to 10 pages. Each ticket has due_by (the resolution deadline), fr_due_by (the first response deadline), is_escalated, and fr_escalated for a first-response breach. Status codes are 2 Open, 3 Pending, 4 Resolved and 5 Closed; priority runs from 1 Low to 4 Urgent.

Support leads schedule the morning backlog by group and priority, tickets past or close to their SLA deadline, first response breaches from the last day, urgent tickets with no agent, and a weekly count of tickets opened against tickets resolved.
