Product Hunt MCP and Claude skills

Track a launch on Product Hunt hour by hour: upvotes, comments and rank, next to the visits, sign-ups and sales the launch actually brings.

Connect Product Hunt to your agent (MCP)

  1. MCP server. Product Hunt has no official MCP server. Community servers wrap the GraphQL API; an agent with a shell needs none.
  2. Developer token. Sign in at https://www.producthunt.com/v2/oauth/applications, add an application (any redirect URL works for a personal token), and copy the Developer Token from the application page. Store it in PRODUCTHUNT_TOKEN and send it as Authorization: Bearer $PRODUCTHUNT_TOKEN with a POST of the GraphQL query.

The developer token reads public data as you and cannot post or vote. The API is rate limited by query complexity, so poll once an hour, not every minute.

What agents do with Product Hunt

Product Hunt's API v2 is GraphQL at https://api.producthunt.com/v2/api/graphql. A post(slug: "acme") query returns the launch's votesCount, commentsCount, featuredAt, createdAt, url and website, and comments lists the thread with authors; posts(postedAfter: ..., order: RANKING) returns the day's launches in ranking order, which is how an agent finds where yours stands. The API is meant for reading; it does not let a script upvote, and Product Hunt's rules forbid asking for votes.

Founders run a launch-day card every hour from 00:01 Pacific (when the day resets) until midnight: votes and rank, the comments still waiting for a maker reply, and, joined from analytics and payments, how many of the visitors signed up or paid.
