beehiiv MCP: connect it to Claude Code, plus ready-made skills
Pull post opens, clicks, subscriber growth and unsubscribes from beehiiv, and post a weekly newsletter report with the issue that did best.
How to connect beehiiv MCP to Claude Code, Codex or Cursor
- beehiiv MCP, beehiiv's official remote server at
https://mcp.beehiiv.com/mcp. In beehiiv, open Settings > MCP, pick your client (beehiiv has guides for Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex) and grant access when asked. It is available on every plan: free plans are read-only, and paid plans add write tools for content, segments and automations, though it can't publish, schedule or send posts. To connect a second workspace, add a parameter such as?account=2to the URL (docs). - API v2 with an API key. Create a key in your beehiiv settings, store it in
BEEHIIV_API_KEYwithBEEHIIV_PUBLICATION_ID(it starts withpub_), and send it as a Bearer token.
The endpoints this report reads need only posts:read, subscriptions:read and publications:read. On a paid plan the MCP connection can edit drafts and segments, so keep it for interactive work and use a read-only key for scheduled runs.

What agents do with beehiiv
beehiiv's API v2 (https://api.beehiiv.com/v2) is organized by publication. GET /publications/{publicationId}/posts lists posts with their status and publish date, and expand[]=stats adds email recipients, opens, open rate, clicks and click rate, plus web views. GET /publications/{publicationId}/subscriptions lists subscribers with their status, created date and where they came from (utm_source, referring_site), and expanding the publication itself returns totals such as active subscriptions and average open and click rates. Responses page with page and limit, so a weekly report asks only for posts published since the last run.
Newsletter writers schedule a weekly report of last week's posts ranked by open and click rate, net subscriber growth (new minus unsubscribed), the sources new readers came from, and a monthly look at the trend in average open rate.
